SOOOOOOO good. After a change of plans, this made our beach day loads better.

This is a fun place. Oh yes, it helps if you know the owners, but the vibes in here are positively local and up-beat.
There are two areas, the main and the back for parties and kid functions. I sat at the bar and ordered tuna bites with a beer chaser. Staff friendly and cordial. The bites were well done, yet I requested them medium rare. The beer selection is meh! I'll make a necessary suggestion when the opportunity presents itself.
The are many flat screens, but all on the same channel. Maybe an oversight.
The prices are reasonable and the patrons friendly. This place will aspire to make four stars. -

I've come here (on and off) since this was the Mantoloking Road Pub, and in recent years have found myself coming less and less, for a few reasons.
First off, this is your typical "local's" bar / dive. The food is usually pretty good, with the pizza being downright delicious, as well as the Mexican food Mondays (if they still do it?). Tacos, flautas, and beer will always be a fantastic combination, and the kitchen staff certainly put out some great tasting stuff!
The beer is where this place REALLY lacks. For something dubbed an "alehouse", you'd think that the taps would be flowing with all sorts of tasty brews. Unfortunately, unless you're looking for run of the mill (see also: boring) beers like Coors, Miller, Sam Adams, and Leinenkugel, there's not much to be found here. With so many local breweries that are a mere stone's throw away, there's no excuse to not at least keep one or two taps on with a decent Jersey brew (Icarus, Last Wave, Jughandle, Kane, Carton, etc. There's tons!).
In all, a decent local option if you want some late night grub, with the pizza and Mexican food being the highlights, here. That said, I probably won't be back too often, given the relatively sad taplist. Get some local brews on rotation, start hosting events with breweries, and become a true "Alehouse", and you'll have trouble keeping me away. -

Late at night looking for a place to stop and eat. This place is awesome. Great music, food was awesome and people were super nice. Had the shrimp scampi pizza (bar size is huge), the pulled pork sliders and the sampler. Everything was great!

My wife and I are on a mission to find the best local places to eat. This is by far the worst. I want to make this and every review straight to the point.
Food was a 2 out of 5. Ordered the Mac and cheese bites, Grilled Chix Czr wrap and Rodeo Burger. The cheese for the Mac n cheese bites were crusty. The lettuce in the wrap was hard as a rock. They were advertising certain beers for a 1$. I ordered one and found out it was way past the date and skunked. The server who brought it to me announced "Ice cold and fresh" as if I wouldn't taste or read the date on it. On top of that there were bugs that was biting our ankles. I do not recommend going here.
